One of the core values here at Springs Valley Bank is Initiative — and I’ve really started to see what that looks like in action. It’s not just about getting tasks done, it’s about genuinely caring, paying attention, and doing what you can to help others — no matter their age or stage in life.

As an intern, I’ve had the chance to see how Springs Valley works hard to meet people where they are, especially younger customers like me who may be just starting to think about money in a serious way. Before this internship, I didn’t fully understand all the tools and services that a bank like ours can offer — like how mobile banking works, what Round-Up Savings actually means, or how someone my age can start building credit responsibly.

Each day, I’m learning more — and realizing how important it is that banks not only offer great products but also help people understand them in a way that’s simple and relatable. Whether it’s opening a first checking account, saving for college, or just figuring out how to manage a budget, young people need guidance that meets them where they are.

Initiative here doesn’t just mean pushing new ideas. It means paying attention, answering questions, and making sure customers — no matter age or experience — feel supported. I’ve watched team members take time to walk customers through the mobile app, answer financial questions without judgment, and follow up just to make sure someone feels confident with their decisions.

As someone who’s still learning about personal finance myself, I’ve gained so much already. And it’s made me excited to keep learning — not just so I can manage my own money better, but so I can help others feel more confident too.
