Inside the Internship - Week 9
Meet Luke Hinshaw
At Springs Valley, we go beyond simply offering financial products and services — we focus on creating meaningful experiences. This summer, many of us interns have had the chance to build memorable connections, gain valuable skills, and learn lessons we’ll carry back to school and into our future careers.
One of my fellow interns, Luke Hinshaw, a Business Management major at Indiana University, joined Springs Valley eager to learn the ins and outs of the banking industry and gain hands-on experience to complement his studies.

During his internship, Luke job-shadowed nearly every department — from retail banking and customer service to lending and operations. This wide-ranging experience gave him a clear understanding of how our teams work together to serve customers efficiently and personally. He was impressed not only by how welcoming everyone was, but also by how invested they were in helping him learn and set him up for success.
One of Luke’s favorite rotations was with our mortgage loan officers. There, he dove into the underwriting process and saw firsthand how we help customers make homeownership a reality. From reviewing applications to learning the details of mortgage products, Luke gained insight into how we tailor solutions to fit each individual’s needs. His time in this department sparked a strong interest in pursuing this field after graduation.
More than anything, Luke valued learning with a purpose. No matter where his career takes him, he will carry the knowledge, opportunities, and guidance he received here at Springs Valley.
Stories like Luke’s remind us that success is something we build together — with our customers, our employees, our interns, and our community. Whether it’s helping a student start their career, a customer open their first checking account, or a family secure a home loan, Springs Valley is here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
